Description

This album, John’s fourth solo endeavor, is the epitome of great jazz playing by an instrumentalist. John’s beautiful tone, amazing trombone skills, and seemingly effortless flow of ideas are all in abundance here.

Recorded “live” by British bassist/engineer Andy Cleyndert, John and the group are captured here in a two-set performance at the Nairn International Jazz Festival in Scotland. No punching, editing, or correcting was done on this project, so what you will hear is the excitement, improvisation, and beauty of this group as they performed.

John’s trombone playing reaches new heights, with chorus after chorus of fresh ideas, blazing technique, and a sound as smooth as silk. John proves over and over again that he is not only the world’s finest trombonist, but easily one of the world’s best instrumentalists. Period.

Mixed and mastered by legendary engineer Bob Katz, this natural sounding concert CD is one you will enjoy for many repeat performances.
